Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Demonstrate an understanding of major psychological disorders and the main theoretical perspectives of how we conceptualise psychopathology.
LO2 Critically evaluate assumptions underlying definitions of abnormality/disorder, as well as the current psychiatric taxonomies of mental health disorders.
LO3 Discuss the causes, treatments, and common outcomes of common psychopathologies.
LO4 Gain increased awareness of the lived-experience of people who live, manage and thrive with psychological disorders.
LO5 Apply current research findings to evaluate macro-social-cultural influences that affect mental health disparities among groups and communities.

Assessment Description:
Students will read a memoir of author’s lived experiences with psychopathology. Then they will complete a worksheet of reflective questions and take part in a “book club” to discuss their learning and reflections in small groups with classmates.
