On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:

LO1 Articulate the operational practices and quality assurance procedures within the employer organisation
LO2 Critically assess and implement effective techniques for requirements elicitation and analysis within the confines of established practices of the employer organisation
LO3 Engage with the project management processes of the employer organisation and draw comparisons with international best practice
LO4 Ascertain the software engineering approach employed in the employer organisation and interpret the part that they personally play in that process with respect to their current occupational role
LO5 Effectively utilise financial data analysis and programming skills acquired through off-the-job modules in the context of day to day work activities
LO6 Reflect on, analyse and document the learning experience resulting from work placement

Indicative Content
General workplace learning
To address this theme apprentices will be required to engage complete the organisations own training and induction programme and partake in any on-going training which may be provided in the workplace.
Expanding on foundation knowledge
Apprentices will simply be introduced to the topics of business analysis, project management and software engineering through off-the-job modules and will be expected to expand on this introductory knowledge in the context of processes within their own workplace processes.
Contextualising content from off-the-job modules
It is expected that apprentices will take the knowledge and skills acquired through off-the-job modules and apply them directly in the context of their day-to-day work activities.
Reflection
Apprentices will practice regular reflection in to assist in making connections between off-the-job module content and work based tasks and activities.

Assessment Description:
Formative assessment will be included by the provision of academic supervision. Feedback will be provided individually or as a group in written and oral format, or on-line through Moodle. In addition, in class discussions will be undertaken where peer assessment may be used to provide feedback.

The summative assessment for this module will comprise the generation of a Work Based Portfolio. The portfolio will be organised and evidenced by the apprentice, with Mentor and Supervisor support and guidance. A range of varied evidence can be presented to show their continuous professional development and satisfy the learning outcomes. The portfolio will be assessed at two interim points and the end point as follows: • end of semester 1 • end of semester 2 • end of semester 3 (end of module)
