Exploring the defining characteristics of managing within an educational context.
Models of Educational Leadership
Examination of differing theorectical models of leadership in education, such as: Instructional leadership; Managerial leadership; Transactional leadership; Transformational leadership; Participative leadership.
Leading and Managing the Whole Workforce
Issues in managing 'educators' and managing support staff.
Organisational structures and roles
Bureaucracy; Collegiality; Distributed leadership; Micropolitics; Leadership and Management roles; role conflict and ambiguity.
Managing People
Recruitment and Selection; Induction and retention; Managing Performance; Diversity.
Organisational Learning and Professional Development
