Teaching and Learning Strategy: The teaching strategy involves the use of lectures, tutorials, independent learning, class discussions and formative assessment as appropriate. Additionally, learners will also have access to web based support.
Learning Environment: Learning will take place in a classroom/lab environment with access IT resources. Learners will have access to library resources, both physical and electronic and to faculty outside of the classroom where required. Module materials will be placed on Moodle, the College’s virtual learning environment.
Module Description: The aim of the module is to provide learners with an understanding of the principles of animation, how an animation is created from start to finish and to identify good practice in existing animation works. It develops the student’s conceptual and technical skills in animation and enables them to master virtual image processing using the latest technologies and tools.
Learning Outcomes
On successful completion of this module the learner will be able to:
LO1 Understand the basic principles of animation and recognise the different methodologies, platforms and design issues in animation
LO2 Create a storyboard and task list for animation
LO3 Develop and design a 3D animation using a range of techniques
LO4 Identify good practice in existing animation works such as characters, narrative structure and visual language
