| Teaching and Learning Strategy: |
This module will be delivered through a combination of class-based lectures and tutorials. Case study material and exercises will be undertaken during tutorials. Students will have access the web-based support tool Moodle in order to source class notes, preparatory readings and reflective questions. |
| Learning Environment: |
Learning will take place in a classroom environment. Learners will be required to access both physical and electronic library resources. Selected material for the module will be placed on Moodle, the College's virtual learning environment. |
| Module Description: |
This module aims to provide an introduction to the study of human behaviour in organisations. The focus of Social and Organisational Behaviour is on the reciprocal influence of the individual on the organisation and the organisation on the individual. In addition, an examination of factors relating to the structure and functioning of organisations will be undertaken. An insight into these interpersonal and organisational processes provides an understanding of the reasons why people behave the way they do in the workplace.
This module aims to enable students to translate organisational behaviour theory, concepts and techniques into practice thereby enhancing organisational performance.

Understand the nature of the study of Organisational Behaviour and identify key factors influencing human behaviour in the workplace. |

Explain and evaluate the nature of interpersonal processes in organisations including leadership, groups, conflict and communications. |

Recognise the importance of organisational processes such as organisational change and the effective management of culture for the continued development of organisations. |

Apply theories of organisational behaviour to work organisations and recognise the significant challenge of the effective management of people in the workplace. |

Formative assessment will be undertaken during tutorials. This will provide the learner with continuous feedback and promote engagement with the module. The forms of the assessment will include short-answer questions, quizzes, debates, questionnaires, case studies and presentations. |
