Lecturer: Master’s degree essential however ideally a PhD. Experience of lecturing in the field and to post experience groups also desirable. Experience of industry in middle/top level management is also desirable.  May be professional qualified either.

LO1 Critically examine the role of the manager and have an in-depth understanding of what ‘management’ means within an international context
LO2 Critically assess management skills, roles and functions regarding self-management and management of individuals/groups.
LO3 Assess the managerial contribution regarding creating & maintaining an infrastructure for results through planning and organising effectively.
LO4 Critically evaluate and apply theories relating to leadership, motivation, communication/negotiation to manage effectively in an organisational context
LO5 Assess a range of approaches to effective change management.
LO6 Evaluate the importance and application of control as a fundamental requirement of business processes.

Assessment Description:
Focused course work, group discussion and coaching from the lecturer through a series of assignments, based on case studies, which are spread evenly in the block period to maximise feedback and to promote engagement. The learning objectives are addressed by focusing on the fact that theories can only partially explain real contextual phenomena and thus a synthesis is sought by students to provide comprehensive analytical coverage.

Repeat examination
Reassessment of this module will consist of a repeat examination. It is possible that there will also be a requirement to be reassessed in a coursework element.
Reassessment Description
The module must be passed. Where a student fails to achieve an overall average of 40% across both assessment elements they will be offered the opportunity to sit a repeat examination covering all the learning outcomes. All elements must be attempted.
