Programme Outcomes

On successful completion of this programme the learner will be able to :

Description
Learners will have a broad knowledge and appreciation of the main functional domains of retail management. This includes business management, accounting, people management and development, sales and marketing, technology, and retail operations. They will have a good understanding of how these different domains link with each other in a retail environment
Learners will gain a broad appreciation of the challenges and opportunities posed by a multi-site retail environment
Learners will be familiar with key management theories, models and frameworks.
Learners will use their own experience and case study scenarios to address retail management situations in an integrated way.
Learners will be able to apply technical skills and tools in particular areas e.g. preparation of a staffing plan, calculation and use of various economic costs, demonstration of leadership skills.
Learners will have a demonstrated ability to diagnose management and organisational problems and suggest appropriate recommendations based on their holistic knowledge of how organisations operate.
Learners will be aware of the significance of planning, design and innovation in business and management in a multisite retail environment
Learners will be able to apply the concepts of planning and staff management to the supervision and line management of staff both for single sites and at a regional level
Learners will gain an appreciation of the complexities of integration of effort at a regional level and the importance of effective communication in a leadership role
Learners will have knowledge of modern managerial best practice in retail and be able to evaluate managerial performance, including their own, to enhance business performance
Learners will be aware of the legal implications in the retail environment from an employment law and health and safety perspective
