On successful completion of this programme the learner will be able to :

Description
Learners will possess a detailed understanding of the retirement framework in Ireland and the ability to critique the current methods and practices utilised in the field of retirement provision and corresponding challenges ahead. Learner will be able to critically analyse & evaluate the methods & mechanisms pertaining to meeting protection, retirement and investment financial needs and the corresponding regulation of this sector. Learners will have an extensive knowledge of pension trust arrangements, and the roles and duties of trustees under statue & equity and good governance mechanisms Learners will have an appreciation of the inter-relationships in the operation & management of a pension arrangement and the various stakeholders.
Learners will have an up to date technical knowledge of the practices and legislative provision pertaining to private pension provision in Ireland and a developed awareness of the challenges, current policies and the changing nature of this industry. Learners will be able to unify and synthesis knowledge gained in disparate subject matter areas and apply this knowledge in dealing with consumers, trustees, employers and in analysing organisational practices Learners will have an extensive knowledge of pension trust arrangements, and the roles and duties of trustees under statue & equity and good governance mechanisms Learners will demonstrate a broad understanding of current practices and methods employed with regards retirement & risk provision in the international business environment.
Learners will be able to critically review relevant material from a range of sources for example academic and industry sources of material, literature, government publications, legislative provisions and scheme specific reports. Learners will be able to explore a contemporary issue of relevance or challenge to their Industry or organisation, critically analyse empirical material and integrate their research, knowledge & skills developed over the course with their experiential learning in analysing finding and making appropriate conclusions. Learners will possess a developed awareness of the importance of technical standards and codes of profession conduct appropriate to the pensions industry Learners will have the ability to communicate using appropriate technical language, legislative provisions relating to retirement provision mechanisms, range of benefits options, funding limits and practices. Learners will have the ability to apply their technical knowledge and analytical skills to a range of complex pension technical or management scenarios in an Irish or multinational context and to communicate practices, recommendations or options. Learners will have developed a range of interpersonal written and oral skills through continuous assessments, role play, group work, and work based project.
Learners will be able apply their technical knowledge and analytical skills to discuss, critique and develop options/practices which facilitate decision making, in particular relating to areas such as retirement/risk benefit provision, operations and management of pension scheme arrangements.
Learners will develop a critical understanding of the importance of profession conduct in the industry. Learners will demonstrate a critical understanding of the duties and responsibilities of pension scheme trustees & advisers both at scheme level and in the wider social context.
Learners will be able carry out self- directed learning and demonstrate the ability to review and research literature and legislation relevant to the pensions industry.
Demonstrate an ability to internalise knowledge and skills learnt through the programme through gaining a greater understanding of the roles & responsibilities of trustees, employer & their advisers in the operation of retirement arrangements.
