Module Content & Assessment

Indicative Content
Week 1 - Assessment and Feedback
Recap on prior modules and overview of current module. Exercise reviewing digital capabilities for assessment, feedback and learning support and setting goals for the development of practice in relation to standards communicated in competency frameworks (TEL practice framework, DigCompEdu, DigCompEduOrg). Exercise exploring current assessment, feedback and learning support practices and identifying areas for enhancement. Presentation and discussion addressing principles of effective assessment and feedback, and exploring opportunities for enhancement using technology at different stages of the assessment and feedback lifecycle. Demonstration of assessment, feedback and evaluation tools/technologies (e.g. originality checking / antiplagiarism software, quiz tools, online survey tools. rubric tools, peer review/feedback tools). Introduction to module assessment and formation of discussion groups to support project generation and development.
Week 2 - Assessment and Feedback
Self-study of resources addressing functionality for tracking student progress and performance in the virtual learning environment (Moodle). Activity to inquire into learners’ experience and expectations of assessment and feedback, and colleagues’ experiences of technology-enhanced assessment and feedback, and to outline the opportunities and challenges for enhancement in practice (Discussion forum).
Week 3 - Accessibility and Inclusion – Assistive Technologies and Universal Design
Presentation and discussion addressing accessibility and inclusion, including assistive technologies and universal design for learning.
Week 4 - Accessibility and Inclusion – Assistive Technologies and Universal Design
Directed self-study of materials addressing accessibility and inclusion, including accessibility features in the personal computer virtual learning environment. Activity to investigate what assistive technologies are in use in the practice setting, and to explore one (Discussion forum).
Week 5 - Virtual Classroom
Practitioner presentations of stage 1 assignment.
Week 6 - Digital Evidence
Directed self-study of materials addressing learner data (preparation for Week 7) Activity to talk colleagues about how they generate and use data on learner activity, performance and progress to inform their practice, and to outline opportunities for the generation and use of digital evidence in personal practice in line with organisational data protection policies (Discussion forum).
Week 7 - Digital Evidence
Presentation and discussion on generating and using digital evidence of learner activity, performance and progress to inform teaching and learning.
Week 8 - E-Portfolios and Digital Credentials
Directed self-study of materials introducing e-portfolios and digital credentials (preparation for week 9). Activity to talk to learners and colleagues about their understanding and experience e-portfolios and digital credentials, and to outline opportunities and challenges for implementing them in practice (Discussion forum).
Week 9 - E-portfolios and Digital Credentials
Presentation and discussion addressing the integration of e-portfolios and digital credentials within assessment and feedback practices (follow-up to week 8).
Week 10 - E-portfolios and Digital Credentials
Directed self-study of resources addressing technology options. Activity to implement conditional activities and a digital credential (badge) within Moodle.
Week 11 - Reading Week
Completion of stage 2 assignments.
Week 12 - Presentations and Professional Development Planning
Practitioner presentations of stage 2 assignment. Activity to update e-portfolio. Module review and revised action planning.
