Take-overs and Mergers (25%)
• Motives for take-overs and mergers • Methods of valuing companies • Different forms of purchase consideration • City Code on Take-overs and Mergers • Hostile bids and defensive tactics • Management buy-outs
Working Capital (20%)
• Introduction to working capital • Control of working capital • Management of stocks, debtors and cash • Management of creditors • Overtrading: causes, consequences and remedies
Risk Management (20%)
• Interest and exchange rate risk • Internal and external risk management • Futures contracts • Options • Swaps • Issues in risk management
International Investment Decisions (10%)

Module Teaching & Learning Strategy
This module will be delivered through a combination of class-based lectures and tutorials. Case study material will be incorporated into lectures. Class exercises will be worked through during tutorials. Current topical issues are discussed and research projects, guest lecturers and assignments are used.
