On successful completion of this programme the learner will be able to :

Description
• Learners will have an in-depth knowledge of the theories, concepts and methods underlying Accounting, Finance and Taxation • Learners will have an understanding of the Economic, Legal and regulatory factors that impact on organisations both in a domestic and international context. • Learners will be able to critically evaluate the functional role of Accounting, Finance and taxation within a business context and be able to evaluate performance. • Learners will have a keen understanding of the fundamental principles of organisational behaviour, human resource management and marketing and how these principles can be applied in different contexts. • An in-depth knowledge of the generic skills and responsibilities e.g. planning and controlling organisational activities, required by management in today’s organisations.
• Learners will acquire a detailed knowledge and understanding of Financial Management, Taxation and Accounting practices applied in progressive Irish organisations. • The learner will be able to apply advanced financial accounting standards within different types of organisational contexts e.g. Entrepreneurial firms, Not-for-Profit organisations and Groups of Companies. • The learner will also be able to apply these skills across a variety of functions e.g. Financial Accounting, Management Accounting, Taxation and Governance
• Learners will be equipped with a detailed technical knowledge in Accounting enabling them to analyse financial data. • Learners will gain a comprehensive understanding of Taxation legislation and its application as used by practicing professionals in their knowledge domain. • Research financial accounting standards to facilitate the preparation of financial accounts and related disclosure notes in a form compliant with standards. • Research company reports and analyse financial statements using specialised analytical tools Learners will be able to prepare, present and interpret detailed financial statements and tax computations.
• Learners will be able to prepare, present and interpret detailed financial statements and tax computations. • Learners will develop the ability to resolve problems and formulate solutions at various levels such as the preparation of group accounts and tax planning. • Through case study work, their judgement in selecting the appropriate solutions for specific situations will be developed. • To experience through case studies and discussion, the real-life strategic management issues experienced by accounting practitioners • Learners will be able to compare and contrast investment strategies and how they contribute to shareholder value. • Learners will be able to work effectively as part of a team of Finance professionals in the workplace or as part of multi-disciplinary or hierarchical teams in the workplace. • All learners will have a keen understanding of accounting standards in a variety of business scenarios. • All learners will be able to investigate and analyse the governance of an organisation and make recommendations based on the codes of best practice and the legal framework within which they operate. • Learners will be able to work effectively in teams which will develop effective communication skills. • Through group work, learners will develop their skills in selecting the appropriate solutions for specific situations.
• Learners will be able to analyse real world problems in financial and management accounting and prepare solutions for management • Learners will be able to identify and assess appropriate sources of finance to meet capital requirements of the business • Learners will be able to design optimal working capital strategies. • Learners will be able to integrate information from a variety of business functions and divisions within an organisation. • All learners will be able to investigate and analyse the governance of an organisation and make recommendations based on the codes of best practice and the legal framework within which they operate.
• Learners will be able to work effectively as part of a team of Finance professionals in the workplace or as part of multi-disciplinary or hierarchical teams in the workplace. • Learners will have strong sense of the leadership qualities required in industry and will be able to communicate in an ethical, professional and intelligible manner
• Learners will have the ability to independently evaluate, analyse and update their skill set in a quickly changing business environment. • Learners will be equipped to build specialised knowledge in Accounting and enrich their understanding of organisational behaviour and management through experience gained in the workplace.
• Identify the key influences on the discipline and the range of stakeholder interests involved • Demonstrate the capacity to integrate multiple perspectives in dealing with academic and practical problems • Identify the range of factors governing strategic choice in accounting and a capacity to propose solutions • Learners will build their knowledge base as they move through the programme from a foundational theoretical and practical skill set to a more advanced techniques and tools.
